A house built around 1706 by the original settlers of this land, Benajah and Lydia Barrows, still stands on this property, along with 5 acres of hayfields and traces of outbuildings which were used for agricultural purposes and the manufacture of wood products. A loop trail circles through forest, field, and wetland, with a side trail leading past a vernal pool out to Wilmarth Street.
Exhibits along the trails describe the human history and natural features of this preserve.
